ABOUT 'KALIYA MARDAN LEELA SONG'
When Kaliya Naag left Ramanak Dweep and settled in Yamuna river, the creatures of Vrindavan started dying due to his fierce poison, the creatures living in Yamuna and the birds flying over Yamuna also started falling prey to the poison. To teach Kaliya a lesson, the child form of Lord Krishna performed the leela of Kaliya Mardan, in which he danced on many of Kaliya's heads. The weight of Krishna's feet alone made Kaliya realize that Krishna is no ordinary boy but an incarnation of Narayana himself.
ABOUT KRISHNA JANMASHTAMI
Hindu festival celebrating the birth (janma) of the god Krishna on the eighth (ashtami) day of the dark fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada (August–September). The number eight has another significance in the Krishna legend in that he is the eighth child of his mother, Devaki.
